Smoothies are my go-to for promoting healthier lifestyles. They’re easy to make, packed with nutrients, quick to digest, and tasty. Today, I’m excited to share a smoothie recipe that has been known to support men dealing with erectile dysfunction (ED).
Not too long ago, I stumbled upon a YouTube video by Dr. Rachael Ross featuring the “D-Up Smoothie.” While I can’t share every detail here, the essence of the recipe is what matters.
In the video, Dr. Ross talks about the overwhelming positive feedback she’s received from those who’ve tried this smoothie. One user even credited it with helping him conceive a child. While no one can promise guaranteed results, it’s worth incorporating into your routine for overall health benefits.
How the D-Up Smoothie Supports ED
Nitric oxide is vital to achieving an erection by facilitating blood flow to the penis. Our bodies produce nitric oxide in three ways: through breathing, in our blood vessels, and by consuming foods rich in L-arginine and L-citrulline. As we age, we produce less nitric oxide, making boosting these nutrients in our diet essential. The ingredients in this smoothie can help you do just that.
Key Ingredients
Watermelon: This refreshing fruit contains plenty of L-citrulline, which helps dilate blood vessels and stimulate blood flow. It may also increase cGMP enzymes, which are crucial for maintaining erections.
Basil: Beyond its aromatic flavor, basil is a popular natural remedy for erectile issues due to its anti-inflammatory properties and ability to promote circulation.
Beets: Beets contain mega amounts of nitrates, which your metabolism converts into nitric oxide, helping maintain the pressure in the corpus cavernosum necessary for sustaining erections. Note that regular beets are higher in nitrates compared to organic ones.
Chia Seeds: These tiny seeds are a powerhouse of nutrients, particularly omega-3 fatty acids and lignans. They have a reputation for enhancing sexual performance, improving circulation, and balancing hormones.
Raspberries or Blackberries: These berries balance the earthy flavor of beets and pack a punch of flavonoids. According to a 20-year study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, flavonoids significantly reduced the risk of ED among the men who participated.
Spinach: Spinach is an excellent source of nitrates and a wide variety of nutrients that promote overall health.
Final Tips
For added flavor and nutrients, consider tossing in a frozen half-banana and a splash of lemon juice. If you’re curious about portion sizes, Dr. Ross’s video is a great reference.
For optimal results, enjoy your D-Up smoothie daily or at least five times a week. After a week, I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments below—let’s support each other on this journey to better health!
